Timothy Rooney was the second oldest
son of movie legend, Mickey Rooney, who at 87 years
old, still performs today! Timmy Rooney died following
a five year battle with dermatomyositis on September
24, 2006. His career as a child actor included films
and TV shows but only after a miraculous recovery from
childhood polio, which had left him paralyzed for two
years. He and older brother, Mickey Rooney Jr. were
two of Disney's original Mouseketeers in TV's, "The
Mickey Mouse Club".
Tim was quite active in Hollywood during the sixties,
when Elvis, himself, spent quite a bit of time there
filming. Tim appeared in television shows such as "Bewitched",
"Dragnet" and "Gidget", and had
a co-starring role in the sitcom, "Room For One
More". More prominently, Tim did major voice-over
work in Hollywood, some of which included the voice
of Theodore the "Chipmunk" of the famed Chipmunk
cartoons.
Tim was also a singer-songwriter on Johnny Carson's
"Tonight Show, " and he and brothers Mickey
Jr. and Teddy appeared in the sixties as "The Rooney
Bros." Tim and Elvis had alot in common as they
became friendly through the film and recording studios
where both appeared at times in the same areas and sometimes
got together and hung out. More than that, Tim's mom,
B.J. Baker, the former Miss Alabama Betty Jane Rase,
2nd wife of Mickey Rooney, became a top background and
vocal contractor in Hollywood for numerous records and
movies, including doing some background work on Elvis'
films and recordings.
