Many people have asked us what our name
was all about, constantly reminding us that we left the "g"
out of "king." The "g" is purposely left out of
"king", the very reason: the Presley family history: the KIN
of Rock and Roll, meaning the relatives of Elvis Presley.
So many businesses thrive today, including EPE, because of one special
man. Many of these same businesses thank Elvis in different ways, most
by giving to certain charities. The Kin of Rock and Roll
chose to honor Elvis, and the ancestors he never knew
, with a tribute involving teaching the truth in history and the preservation
of history, Elvis' favorite subject. The Civil War being his favorite
history subject, it stands to reason why Elvis can easily tie in to
American history. Elvis 5th cousin 4x removed, General John Bell Hood,
to whom, in part, Elvis bore a striking resemblance, (blonde hair, same
blue eyes, same straight nose, same forehead) was a key figure in that
history. One can only imagine that when Elvis did his concert in Harrisburg,
that he took a brief side-trip to visit the battlefield at Gettysburg.
He had gone to many other battlefields at home in Tennessee and in various
other states including Virginia and Georgia.

founder, Barbara Lee Rowe, had the mission in
mind based upon the family's kinship to Elvis Presley. Rowe's mother
passed away when she was very young and had been ill for several years
before. The children were sent to live with their maternal grandparents
in New York. Lee remembers the happiness Elvis brought to her parents.
"I remember watching
Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show and my mother was going crazy. She telephoned
my father, who was working late that night, and I recall her telling
him about how 'they were showing him from only the waist up'. She was
so amazed by it."
The other thing Rowe remembers is how much her
father resembled Elvis when he was a younger man.
"My father did
resemble Elvis in looks, but also in mannerisms, countenance, the way
he sang and played guitar, even in attracting the ladies! You can tell
now that they were similar in many ways. They both grew up on peanut
butter and bananna sandwiches, they both came from deprivation in the
south and played and picked amid the cottonfields. They both married
woman from Brooklyn, New York! The neighbors on our street used to say,
'Bill, you look like Elvis!' and when he'd say, 'I guess it's because
we're cousins,' no one believed him! They actually thought he was kidding.
My father never brought it up again to anyone. Elvis and he had alot
of the same traits as far as loyalty, honorable service, patriotism,
justice-seekers, and total love of their Southern heritage."
But for Rowe, the mission became clear. Elvis
had brought so much happiness to so many people the world over that
it was time for a request of his to be fulfilled. That request was to
know who his ancestors were, and Rowe came up with the idea to devote
a site and a venture that would bring together Presley kin in memory
of Elvis and our ancestors. There are alot of family surprises on our
website. One of the more rewarding objectives for Rowe is to be able
to bring the ancestral family "back to the fold," to bring
all the cousins together, in a way Elvis would have understood and appreciated.
