Military
Service of Presley and Allied Family members for the War Between
States.
The
Family military connections from NC , TN, SC, MS, AL, MO, LA at
this time include Presley, Hood, and the Warren men from MS only.
The following list of
surnames on the Presley side is for family who served for the CSA
during the War Between States.
These lists are compiled from the sources of the
National Park Service Soldiers and Sailors System and are the most
accurate and up-to-date listings of those who served.
The
bulk of service for the Presleys came out of North Carolina while
the bulk of service for the Hood family came out of NC, MS, and
AL. More to come on the fate of the brave Mississippians who fought
and died at Gettysburg and the travesty at Sachs Bridge where three
Mississippians from Barksdale's brigade were hung and to this day
their name unknown. Their spirits linger still which has caused
the bridge to be listed as one of the most haunted spots in Gettysburg,
itself, one of the 10 most haunted places in the nation.
NOTE:
The Revolutionary War lists are still under
construction at this time.
Facts
and Fate
Twenty-one
Presleys fought in the Battle at Gettysburg. Most of them
were either captured, wounded, or killed.
The 26th NC included some of our Helms and other NC ancestors,
and included both Horton and Darlin Presley, both captured
and sent to Point Lookout Prison, MD, where both died.

The following link refers to Col. S.F. Pressley,
commander of the Confederate forces in South Carolina during the
War Between States. We are currently working to find more information
on Col. Pressley, and whether or not he is from our direct Presley
lines. Our Presley family, most of them descendants of Thomas
Presley, had settled in Kershaw County, SC. As soon as we obtain
further information, we will post here.

In
Memory of those who died...
The
Kin of Rock and Roll
asks you all to remember the sacrifices of all veterans. Our ancestors
served bravely and nobly and it is up to us to preserve their memories,
their honor. Let us never forget those who served for the Southern
cause for what they did to contribute to our nation as a whole,
despite that their efforts could not gain what may have been achieved,
was fight for our nation's Constitution and their constitutional
rights as a people. They are Blessed and honorable, and we are glad
that they belong to us.
The grave marker for John Gotea Pressley, above is, we believe,
the descendant of David Pressley who is not directly related to
our line. A descendant of Col. Pressley contacted us and advised
us that his line is not related to the family of
Elvis Presley. We still honor their service here.
