Remembers here on these pages the lives of Elvis and his Presley ancestors, the Presley family and extended family. We remember that Elvis enjoyed history and we hope this website will bring to light for Elvis' fans a subject matter Elvis delighted in. From the book by Dorothy Nelkin and M. Susan Lindee, The DNA Mystique: The Gene As a Cultural Icon. (New York: W.H. Freeman & Co., 1995), 79, the authors quote from a biography on Elvis written by Albert Goldman: "Another Elvis biographer, Albert Goldman, focused on his subject's bad genes, describing him as the victim of a fatal hereditary disposition. . . . Goldman attributed Elvis' character to ancestors who con-stituted a distinctive breed of southern yeomanry commonly known as hillbillies. A genealogy research organization, Goldman said, had traced Presley's lineage back nine generations to a nine-teenth-century coward, deserter and bigamist. In Goldman's narrative, this genetic heritage explained Elvis' downfall: his addiction to drugs and alcohol, his emotional disorders, and his premature death were all in his genes. His fate was a readout of his DNA." Precisely why this website was designed! To let Elvis and our ancestors speak for themselves as a full and complete testamentary to a line of men brave, loyal, and noble during times of war and in peace. A God-fearing, religious band of southern kin who at most tried to survive and prevail after a ravaging war destroyed their lands, their homes, their lives. These are their stories. Without visiting the history, we could never learn the truth. Elvis was a proud American as were--and are--his kin. We stand in defense of our ancestors, against the rumors and false accusations made by the uninformed, the uneducated. Elvis' school ring from L.C. HEROES HERO
For centuries soldiers and true American patriots have been heroes to both the young and old. Such soldiers and American patriots today are still our heroes. One in particular stands out. Elvis Presley. A hero for today's generation and generations to come. To many Americans, young and old, to many around the world, Elvis is a timeless hero, one to look upon with awesome regard. If there need be moral qualifications for heroes, then Elvis has earnestly complied. Elvis married one time only. To Priscilla Beaulieu in Las Vegas on May 1, 1967. Once married, he was a loyal husband. Then he became a loving and doting father to his cherished, Lisa Marie, who was born February 2, 1968. Elvis was a firm believer in the sacredness of marriage and family. Elvis was a giver. He gave himself to God, to his family, to friends, and to his loyal fans. He was a loyal friend. A trusted compatriot. Elvis was a hero not because of how he was treated in life but because of how he treated others. What remained of the life that was driven from Elvis by others was what he gave and shared with others. Elvis Presley. A true hero for today--and always. ![]() Contrary to the myths and rumors, and the awful allegations by some who knew him personally, Elvis was a true gentleman with traditional and moral values. He turned down the role opposite Barbra Streisand in "A Star is Born," because he felt the nude scenes were inappropriate, believing that intimacy between a man and woman should be kept private. Foremost, Elvis did not want his little girl to one day view a movie wherein her father would behave in such an immoral and in-appropriate manner. Lisa Marie is Elvis' strongest defender, and there are family members who have joined the crusade to speak the truth about Elvis and to defend him against false accusations and slander. There are just too many untrue stories. It's time for the truth. Elvis beloved grandma once told him before his success that he would be lonely at the top of that hill. Minnie Mae was all too knowing. ![]()
